On Nutrisystem, you get 700 or less calories per day. How are you going to lose weight that way?

I heard you should not have less than 1200 calories per day in order to lose weight because then your metabolism will drop. So how are people on this losing weight?
By the way I thought about doing Nutrisystem but then got a free days sample of food and completely changed my mind. The food is TERRIBLE!!!

    I think you need to find a new diet! Try Jenny Craig or try the South Beach diet plan.

    Never try dumb diets like those they always exaggerated the commercials and the people who act like they lost weight are so faking it.So it’s best just to lose weight the old fashion way.

    most commercials like that say things like “results not typical”.

    also, even if you eat very little, if its spaced out between 3 or more meals, it will keep your metabolism in check.

    They lose weight because they only eat 700 calories and they burn more then that each day.. The trouble with that though is when you stop you can very easily gain back the weight.. So it’s usually recomended that you eat no less then 1200 calories each day and just burn more calories each day.

    You will lose weight because you will be burning more than you are eating. The problem is, you will also lose mucscle mass as well as fat. These kinds of diets DO work…but usually they don’t last. Eat right and move more…if you have to get it in a box, what will you do when you have to eat regular food? I tried it once…put all my weight back on. I’m now eating better food and exercising every day. It works more slowly…but it’s not a race…and this will last.

    If it’s terrible (the food) try making the company eat their own food. Guarantee that they’ll change the recipe!

    Don’t do Nutrisystem– the portions are too small, and you’ll wind up hungry.

    Work out more, eat lots of fruits and veggies when you want to snack, and don’t eat fatty, high cal foods for your meals. Simple!

    Haha, good to know as I have been thinking about it myself… Im sure there is a program that weens you back on to 1200 calories – but I would be starving only eating 700 cals a day everyday – sounds like just plain moderation and excersise is the best plan!

    I think the way it is with your body
    is that you DO lose weight, when you end up starving yourself, but you gain it very quickly back when you eat like a normal person.
    &your metabolism starts to slow down, screwing you up long-term.

    You are right, you should get 1000-1200 calories per day. Any less and you will gain the weight back. I would try the Zone or South Beach Diets as they are sensible, use real food, and are about 1200 cals. (Zone depends on your weight).

    thats not really true…..if you starve yourself for 7 days you still lose weight but you could die

    the less you take and the more you use the higher the chance of losing weight
